Timberlab is providing design assist, manufacturing, and fabrication of materials for this new mass timber public library. The scope of work includes the fabrication and supply of all mass timber glulam beams and columns from Timberlab’s manufacturing facility. Installation will be performed by a third-party firm.

The existing New Lots public library is outdated and in need of a complete demolition and new build. New Lots Library’s updated design aims to increase public space and access to library resources for the community. Elements of the building’s design will honor the site's history as a formerly unacknowledged African Burial Ground and celebrate African-American culture. There will be separate floors for children and adult services, including a space for the New Lots Library Adult Learning Center where adults can obtain their high school equivalency diploma, take classes in literacy, and practice citizenship preparation. Multiple community spaces will be provided to allow for an increase in public programs.
