Timberlab at Woodrise 2025: Advancing the Future of Mass Timber

In September, Timberlab was proud to participate in Woodrise 2025, held in Vancouver, British Columbia, from September 22–25. As one of the premier international conferences dedicated to mid- and high-rise timber construction, Woodrise brought together leading voices from across architecture, engineering, policy, and manufacturing — and Timberlab was honored to take part in this year’s program.

Founded in 2017, Woodrise has grown into a biennial global forum for sustainable buildings with wood. As a platform for international trade and intellectual discussion, Woodrise has hosted past editions in Québec City, Japan, and Bordeaux, France. The conference has become a hub for advancing timber innovation through research collaboration, technical knowledge sharing, and cross-border policy alignment. Vancouver — a city at the forefront of tall timber construction — served as a fitting host for this year’s event, especially as interest in mass timber continues to accelerate across North America.

At Timberlab, we remain committed to shaping that growth. From our fabrication facilities to our project sites, we have worked to redefine how large-scale timber buildings are designed, delivered, and built. The momentum in the sector reflects significant shifts, including evolving building codes, expanding manufacturing capacity, and a growing demand for lower-carbon building systems.

“Attending and presenting at Woodrise provided me the first opportunity since COVID to visit and get an update on the latest advancements of Canadian mass timber manufacturing, policy, research, and project applications,” said Hans-Erik Blomgren, Timberlab’s Technical Director, who spoke during one of Woodrise’s technical workshop tracks.

Joining Hans-Erik on the ground in Vancouver were Sam Dicke, Timberlab’s Manager of Client Development, and Mark Fusco, Product Sales Executive, who saw Woodrise as an important opportunity to connect the dots between Canadian innovation and U.S. market potential.

“Timberlab is proud to be a part of the expanding mass timber market,” said Dicke. “In Canada, it is clear that the knowledge and expertise of tall timber lives in Vancouver, and we are excited about bringing that experience to the United States in the future.”

“The 2025 Woodrise Conference brought together some of the finest global thought leaders in mass timber construction and sustainable building solutions,” added Fusco. “It was inspiring to be a part of the event and learn more about the possibilities for building greener, stronger, and more resilient communities with mass timber.”

In addition to participating in technical sessions, Timberlab engaged with fellow industry leaders through workshops, exhibitions, and site visits, all focused on delivering better and more efficient timber buildings. From fire safety and seismic resilience to supply chain innovation and carbon performance, the conversations at Woodrise 2025 helped define the next chapter of the industry.

As both participants and contributors, we valued the opportunity to share what we’ve learned, learn from others, and continue helping to push mass timber forward.
