A Triad of Mass Timber Student Housing
UCSC Kresge College Residence Halls | Santa Cruz, CA
Overview
Our team provided design-build services for the Kresge College residence halls, a sequence of three mass timber buildings in the California Redwood Forest that will honor the legacy of Architect Charles Moore. At roughly 5,550 square feet per floor, the five-story buildings utilize Cross Laminated Timber floor and roof diaphragms atop prefabricated light wood-frame wood walls. Utilizing state-of-the-art modeling and virtual design, Timberlab was able to preserve the surrounding redwood canopy by creating a Point Cloud model of every tree on the construction site.
